On what basis can you rate a tab before trying to play it through? I mean, unless you're just rating the midi file. But, it's supposed to be a tab rating, not a midi rating...

i havent played over half the tabs i've rated :D
i dont see whats wrong with rating the midi if you know it was made along with the tab in question, i dont have my headphones on though so im not going to check to see if that is the case with this one

First off, I want to note that Omnicide, I don't mean to troll your tab! I will try it out, and comment on it properly. :D None of the comments that follow apply to this tab specifically, but rather to a widespread phenomenon I've observed.
Brother of Esau: It seems to happen a lot with large, "difficult" tabs of popular pieces--lots of people rate them up and call them "epic" without really having a clue as to whether they are remotely practical to play.
On principle, if a tab isn't actually possible to play, then it is a pointless tab with a nice midi file. If a person knows he cannot play a tab, and doesn't know whether anyone can, he shouldn't be rating it, because maybe it is actually impossible to play.
However, as soon as someone demonstrates that the tab is playable, then it's open season and people can 5 star as much as they like, given that they like the way it sounds when actually played by a person.

I should make an amendment: it may be the case that parts of a tab are impossible while other parts are possible and valuable, but it still wouldn't stand as a unified tab. However, maybe such a tab could be worth 5 stars if the good parts were valuable enough to a person. But all of this depends on a person actually trying to play it. Basically what I think is wrong is to say:
"OMG that is an awesome midi file--therefore, 5 star tab and you are a guitar god!"
Of course, that's my opinion and is worth either nothing, or consideration.

I understand what you're getting at, but to be completely hoenst- I am not a very good guitar player therefore I might not be able to play through this song anyway I dont wanna be that dick who says "MAKE YOUR ARRANGEMENTS MORE PLAYABLE 1 STAR" like that guy who comments on every fucking stamen arrangement. What isn't playable to me could be playable to a more advanced player like you, kabuki, trangoul, or surreal and all the other acoustic bros i'm not trying to sound hostile here btw- you've got a totally rational point- but I will keep on rating tabs based on the midi.
