Square Soft riddles!

@musenji  - March 15, 2011, 4:06 a.m.

Riddles are really friggin fun. Verily!

The rules:

  1. One riddle at a time. Whoever correctly guesses the riddle (and has the answer confirmed by the riddler) gets to post the next one. They have 48 hours to do so, then the floor is open. (They can also decline to post, and leave the floor open, but c'mon guys, give it a shot.)

  2. The riddler gets to decide whether to give hints, and whether to answer questions. (i.e. It's not 20 questions folks.)

Something that has worked very well is for guessers to post the reasoning behind their guesses--which gives the riddler a chance to steer them along, in an organic fashion. And it keeps people from just randomly guessing.

  1. Riddles are to be made based on Square Soft games (pre-2003) that were released in America. (The reason for this is to limit the field and keep it relatively accessible to all.)

  2. If you are posting a riddle, pick one game to riddle about, and state it in your initial post.

So, the first riddle. It's from Final Fantasy VII:

I reside in darkness where evil’s enlightened Mostly contorted, but sometimes I’m heightened

If you look around, you can tell I’ve been preying Though when I appear, the guitarist keeps playing

Don't try and play too many games when you're there :), I end up doing that all the time, especially the bike race game.

Don't worry, I found it. So, going in order- -they're at the golden saucer -they're in a group of three -they have a nice view (and even appear to enjoy their spot) -no one would go up there -they're stuck, being as far as we know, inanimate objects -there's a tree there

Yeah it seems most gave up on mine instantly, haha. It was intended for that effect of course, but hopefully someone doggedly decides to make it their biotch.

lol there it is, I was suprised you didn't get it way earlier. Especially with my hint 8. Go for it. Edit: Explanation - aka repeating what mus said

when you figure that out then identify me i come in a group one specific multiple of 3
I was looking for a specific 3. I really couldn't ask much more specific than that.
i have a nice view
Nice view= Vantage Point. They got a nice view of the whole screen. Too bad they aren't alive.
and noone bothers me
I bet that a few "hardcore" FF7er's never really noticed it. You don't interact with it, it's secluded, and as I hinted, you can't beat the game without going by this screen.
but the truth is I'm a slave shackled near a tree
Again, I was going to mislead you guys. What I meant with shackled and slave was that the answer was bounded. Also, it will never be in any other screen of the game. P.S. You like that tree lol? I never said it had to be real.

I probably would've missed it, but you said you had a picture with the answer circled, which screamed "background graphics". Only with background graphics would such a picture be necessary. I'll come up with something today--it will be something not too hard, from a game I haven't written for yet.

Super Mario RPG Much like the Dunedain, come from the north Or elvish upgrades in Azeroth. But the thing most alike, if my memory's not botched, Is the "strong changing strong" that 90's kids watched.

Final Fantasy IV What little the Japanese know of this, they learned from the French Everything else, they learned from the Greek But I know none of that; I know only of a small dog And that all dogs come from Heaven

I am guessing that you are referring to one of the Magus Sisters named "Dog" that you encounter in the Tower of Zott.

And that all dogs come from Heaven
Could this be hinting at the moon?
