I'll take another hint! I'm wracking my brain! Kanshiketsu89, gotta wait till the floor holder either retracts the riddle, or confirms someone's guess. Or you can solve the riddle on the other thread. :D

Riddles are really friggin fun. Verily!
The rules:
One riddle at a time. Whoever correctly guesses the riddle (and has the answer confirmed by the riddler) gets to post the next one. They have 48 hours to do so, then the floor is open. (They can also decline to post, and leave the floor open, but c'mon guys, give it a shot.)
The riddler gets to decide whether to give hints, and whether to answer questions. (i.e. It's not 20 questions folks.)
Something that has worked very well is for guessers to post the reasoning behind their guesses--which gives the riddler a chance to steer them along, in an organic fashion. And it keeps people from just randomly guessing.
Riddles are to be made based on Square Soft games (pre-2003) that were released in America. (The reason for this is to limit the field and keep it relatively accessible to all.)
If you are posting a riddle, pick one game to riddle about, and state it in your initial post.
So, the first riddle. It's from Final Fantasy VII:
I reside in darkness where evil’s enlightened Mostly contorted, but sometimes I’m heightened
If you look around, you can tell I’ve been preying Though when I appear, the guitarist keeps playing

It takes place within a cave.

I'm thinking it refers to Mog, perhaps whacking Umaro? When you meet up with him in WoR, Mog says something about "you guys didn't think I'd die that easy, did you?"

Oh! Good guess, but no, that's not what I had in mind. No moogles, no Umaro. It's something from the WoR though, so you're getting close.

Never played FFVI, but that riddle hints to me of a book. Does anyone know if that relates to the game somehow?

The suicide jump doesn't take place in a cave, though. Jumping on a turtle's back, either on the way to Figaro, or in Daryl's tomb? Obviously it doesn't get injured, though you would think it would.

Yes! The riddle:
Thump, thump, thump, thump! No need to worry If my back were broken I'd recover in no timeThe riddle with explanation:
Thump, thump, thump, thump! [the bandits jump on the turtle, one at a time] No need to worry [that the turtle is injured] If my back were broken [from their jumps] I'd recover in no time [because the turtle is floating in a recovery spring]And a video! {{iframe removed}} I can't be the only one that worried about that poor turtle, just to realize it's living in a recovery spring :-)

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I forgot about the recovery spring! That's the one part I was sketchy on, cause how do you heal a turtle with a broken back? Okay this riddle is a multi-game riddle. Keep in mind that the answer has to fit all three stanzas clearly. :-) ******************** I'm only found once in FF 6, Keeping company with poor fools who like to play tricks. I'm found once more in FF 7, When a beast of lore fights a future creature of heaven. And finally, I'm found in FF 8, With a lonely child in yellow, vowing to carry his own weight.

I guess rain!
I'm only found once in FF 6, Keeping company with poor fools who like to play tricks. In the town with all the liars (poor fools who play tricks), it rains. I'm not sure if this is the only place it rains, though.
I'm found once more in FF 7, When a beast of lore fights a future creature of heaven. In the scene where the Midgar Golem (beast of lore) is shown killed by Sephiroth, the future one-winged angel (creature of heaven), it rains. Actually, I don't remember if it rains here, but I know it lightnings :-\
And finally, I'm found in FF 8, With a lonely child in yellow, vowing to carry his own weight. When Squall is a kid during a flashback of the most retarded part of the game, he is wearing his yellow Charlie Brown outfit and talking to himself. During this scene it rains.

yep! It's rain. The FF7 stanza refers to the Nibelheim flashback where Sephiroth kills a dragon in the rain. Gonna give writing a chance this time? :-)

Yeah, I'll give it a go. I've got an idea, hopefully I can form a nice riddle for it.
